Twisted Figures Mixed Media Art

My next etsy shop feature is Twisted Figures Mixed Media Art. I can not even say how much I love this artists work. As soon as I seen it I knew this would be one of the features. I guess because it is so me. The colors, the style, the quality. It's just adorable and each one is so different. This is also a new etsy shop, and I predict she will have great success with her wonderful art. Here is some more info straight from the seller.

My Etsy shop consists of Whimsical Mixed Media Paintings and Portraits. I just opened my store the beginning of last month and I have had 1 sale(woo hoo). I am very excited about the opportunities Etsy offers me as an artist and I find it very user friendly. Since I am new to Etsy, I often frequent the community section to learn as much as I can on how to promote my shop. I am discovering that my fellow artists on Etsy are so inspiring and helpful. I cannot believe how much support I have received in such a little amount of time.

I have always created as long as I can remember in some capacity or another. As a child, I used to sit down and draw all day long. As the years went by, I stopped drawing but never stopped creating. I got into Scrapbooking, Decorating, Altering and just about every craft you can think of. The beginning of this year I decided to start drawing again and to do the unthinkable...pick up a paint brush! Since then, I have been a sponge learning as much as I can about painting, portraits and mixed media in general. I feel like I am doing what I was meant to do. My art is mostly inspired by the things I experience with my son and daughter and my journey of self discovery. When I'm painting, I try not to think too much and just let my instincts take over. Sometimes I have so many ideas, its hard to get them all down on my sketch pad, but I am really enjoying this new journey in my life and can't wait to see where it leads me.

My advice for other Etsy store owners is learn as much as you can by going to the community section of Etsy, Join an Etsy group (I belong to VAST-Visual Art Street Team), ask lots and lots of questions, figure out who your target buyers are and definitely start an Art Blog.

Good Bloom

I chose Goodbloom's store because it's simplicity and neatness. Her prints are simple, yet have this funkyness to them that makes them unique. I would love it if they were 12 x 12 scrapbook paper. Here is some more info about Goodbloom straight from the seller herself. Make sure you check out her etsy shop and blog.

About my store: I sell retro flower paintings and ACEOs. I got interested in painting while doing some artwork for my girl's room, which was also flowers, and it has grown from that. I love to use bright happy colors most of the time, with a little drab color thrown in to make the colors pop. I will probably start adding some other things to my store besides flowers soon, though, as I'd like to experiment with other things too. But flowers will still be the meat and potatoes of what I sell.

What inspires your art? For my flowers, I try to doodle regularly to keep the ideas flowing. I get inspiration from lots of different places too, though, such as a photo on a blog or something. Things that have patterns, especially. For my colors, I love to look at decorating catalogs like Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel to get inspiration.

Advice for other etsy store owners: Well, since I've only been on Etsy for 2 weeks now, I think I'm the one that needs the advice!!! But if I were to talk to someone about to open a store, I would tell them to research like crazy. I am learning so many new things about operating a small business that I had no idea went on. And I've also been learning that you can't just open your shop and sit back and wait for the sales to start pouring in. You have to really put your store out there for others to see in lots of different places. That's what I'm learning so far!

Tomorrow is Mega Meet!!!!!

Woohooo! Only a few hours until Mega Meet. I can't wait! Hopefully I will get to take a lot of pictures, fill my head with a tons of ideas, and my hands full of new scrapbook paper and supplies. I also had two sales in the etsy shop today. The ladybug pair and bumble bee are gone. I guess I better start making some more bugs, because it seems like those are the hot sellers!
If I have time tomorrow I will post pictures of the mega meet. Make sure to check back this weekend for 2 special posts. The weekend posts will be blog features from 2 etsy shops that were the winners of the blog feature contest. Have a great day! I leave you with a picture of the teddy bear that is still available in The Pink Chihuahua Art Etsy Shop.

Sweet Treats

Countdown!

It's a countdown to the Great Lakes Mega Meet! 4 days to go!! I have done absolutely no crafting at all this week. So I have nothing to share. I'm hoping to get something accomplished today since I get off at 5. I'm planning on doing a small line of Sweet Treats polymer clay, with cupcakes, candy, and cookies. Right now it's just an idea I haven't actually tried to sculpt it, so we'll see what happens. I have it pictured in my mind, but that doesn't mean it's going to turn out that way.
I also chose the 2 winners for the Etsy Shop blog feature. So check your Etsy mail and see if you were chosen, and email me back with your info. The blog features will be this weekends blogs. For those of you who I didn't choose I will still post links to your shops in upcoming posts.
Have a great Tuesday! Oh and I almost forgot....Pink Chihuahua Art is almost at 1,000 page views, and only 9 hearts away from being 50 peoples favorite Etsy shop! Thanks everyone!
So I will leave you with a picture of the lady bug pair that are still available in the Etsy Shop

Down On The Farm

I made two new clay sculptures. A chick and a pig. When I sat down to actually make something my mind was just not being creative. I couldn't think of anything to make. I guess my mind has been so much on scrapbooking I lost my creative clay thinking. So if anyone has any ideas on new things to make with clay let me know!
Only 11 days until The Great Lakes Mega Meet!!! Unfortunently Carol Duvall will not be there because she is having surgery on her leg. But I am sure there will be a ton of great scrapbooking supplies there, so I can't wait to spend some money! lol!
Have a great Monday! The chick and pig will be in the etsy shop in a few minutes!

Busy Bee

Hey everyone! I haven't blogged in a few days, just been busy working and scrapbooking!!! I went to the scrapbook tree on thursday and made a page of my grandma. Somehow it turned out to be a really green page, not usually my color but I like it a lot.
So I really have not had any time to make anything for etsy, but I promise I will make some polymer clay stuff this weekend, and maybe some more scrapbook embellishments. So check back for updates and hopefully I will have a ton of stuff in the etsy shop by Monday. Have a Great Weekend! Only 2 weeks until The Great Lakes Mega Meet.

Scrapbook Mania!!

This scrapbooking thing is really a lot of fun! I went to the sketch class last night, it was really informative, and a lot of fun. I got a lot of ideas that I would of never gotten anywhere else. The class is based on Creative Sketches for Scrapbooking by Becky Higgins. You can see the book by clicking here. You use a sketch which tells you what size to cut all the paper and photos, but then you personalize the layout with your own embellishments, paper, and photos. You can see some sample layouts by clicking here. I'm going back on thursday for a free crop, I can't wait to try another layout. Here is the one I made yesterday of my dogs Ella and Paris.

New Polymer Clay Figures

I worked on some new clay figures last night, I finished 3. A dog, bird, and an owl. The owl and the dog are already up on etsy. The bird was just a test, I will probably make some more and put them on etsy soon.
I will attending my first scrapbook class on Monday. It's a sketch class at The Scrapbook Tree and Stamp Garden. It's a beginner class. You bring 6 -8 photos, the instructor helps you sketch a layout, ands shows you what would make your photos pop. Once you take the class then you can join the sketch club that meets once a month. They have one sketch a month and then everyone does a variation of that sketch. It should be a lot of fun. Now I just have to decide what kind of photos I want to use.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Here's a picture of the new clay items. Make sure you check them out on etsy.
