Happy Memorial Day!

Hopefully everyone is having a wonderful holiday weekend. Mine hasn't been too bad, except that I have had to work all weekend. I guess that's what happens in retail management.
I have not blogged in awhile because I just have been super busy working. Hopefully things will slow down this week and I will be able to get some things done. I did finish the page of me and my cousin, and also made a one page layout of my cousin and brother. Those pictures will be posted below.
I also found another great site called Craft Gossip it has a section for every art/craft you could imagine. From knitting to scrapbooking. Plus tons of links and articles. Something for you to check out if you get bored. Just click HERE
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! Say a prayer for all those who have lost a loved one, and remember the good times you shared.

Scrapping/Cropping Mania!

I just can't stop scrapbooking!!! It's so much fun, and there are just endless possibilities of what you can do with a few pictures.
I had a great time at The Scrapbook Tree today. I worked on two pages today. One Winnie The Pooh page of my cousin James, and a page of my cousin and I using pictures from when we were little. I think I am done with the Pooh page, but then again you can always find something new to add. I still have to add the title and embellishments to the other page so it's a work in progress.
I went to Michael's today looking for the much raved about Martha Stewart circle cutter. They were all sold out. But they did have some adorable Amy Butler tool bags and a new Amy Butler line of paper and embellishments, but I passed. It was only 25% off, so I'll wait until it's off sale a use a coupon!! I did pick up some clay today, so I'm going to try to make some bugs in the next few days since I am totally sold out!
Here are the layouts that I worked on. (Works in Progress)

Busy Busy Busy

I haven't blogged in a while, I have been super busy. I had to work 7 days straight so I really haven't had time to do anything. Tomorrow I'm headed to The Scrapbook Tree to do some cropping. I also at some point have to get to Michael's and stock up on clay so I can start making some new things. I should have some things done by the weekend. In the mean time I stumbled upon a new blog by the scrapbooker/photographer Ali Edwards. She has some great ideas, and super beautiful pages. So if you get a chance check her out here http://aliedwards.typepad.com. Have a wonderful day!

Booked My First Craft Show

My first craft show with Pink Chihuahua Art merchandise will be at Parcells Middle School in Grosse Point, Michigan. It is very exciting. Even though it is not until December, I need to get a jump on things now so I have enough merchandise. So if your in the area mark December 6th off of your calendar.
Not too much crafting going on just a lot of working. I have 2 cropping days planned next week and hopefully I can get some clay work done this weekend. Today I will leave you with pictures of some cards that were on display at The Great Lakes Mega Meet.

Scrapbooking At The Tree

I spent Monday scrapbooking at the tree (www.scrapbooktreeandstampgarden.com). I got a few pages done, and had a lot of fun as usual. I worked on 2 layouts. One of the Ann Arbor Art Fair from last year, and one of Cedar Point. I got the Ann Arbor one done, I still have to make a title for the Cedar Point page, and maybe add some more embellishments. I also worked on an accordian album with my brothers graduation pictures. I got the album from archiver's for around 3.00 and then just added some paper, embellishments, and pictures. It's super easy to do and comes out looking pretty darn good for a 3.00.
The cupcakes, and lollipop are now available in the Etsy Shop. I'm planning on working on new clay figures this week, so check back over the weekend and next week for some new items in Etsy Shop. Have a good day.

It's Officially An Obsession

Did everyone have a wonderful weekend? I did, nice, quiet time at home off from work. Quite the mini vacation. Hope everyone enjoyed the etsy shop feature weekend! I think it turned out well, so I will be doing it again soon. We also hit the 1,000 + site views over the weekend! Amazing! I really would of never thought things would be going this well.
So...now to the real important stuff........The Mega Meet was AMAZING!!! So much stuff to look at and so many people!!!! There were tons and tons of scrapbooking products, from paper and embellishments to kits and storage. It really was AMAZING!! After it was over I thought long and hard about what could of made it better. The only thing I could think of was I wish they would of had more paper instead of embellishments and things. But then I remembered, I left with 250 sheets of paper. YES PEOPLE I BOUGHT 250 SHEETS OF SCRAPBOOK PAPER!!! It really is kind of sick, but I just couldn't help myself. Now the 250 sheets does include stops at the mega meet, archiver's and a store called The Scrapbook Zone. Now I know 250 sheets of paper sounds ridiculous, but I also bought a ton of other stuff, you can see my stash below. I bought some storage containers, folders, embellishments, stickers, boardbooks, a magazine and more. And all I spent was $100! That's it. I got such great deals I couldn't believe it! I wish Mega Meet was every weekend!
So now I am off to The Scrapbook Tree to put my new supplies to good use, and hopefully get some wonderful pages done. Talk to you all tomorrow, have a wonderful Monday!

Twisted Figures Mixed Media Art

My next etsy shop feature is Twisted Figures Mixed Media Art. I can not even say how much I love this artists work. As soon as I seen it I knew this would be one of the features. I guess because it is so me. The colors, the style, the quality. It's just adorable and each one is so different. This is also a new etsy shop, and I predict she will have great success with her wonderful art. Here is some more info straight from the seller.

My Etsy shop consists of Whimsical Mixed Media Paintings and Portraits. I just opened my store the beginning of last month and I have had 1 sale(woo hoo). I am very excited about the opportunities Etsy offers me as an artist and I find it very user friendly. Since I am new to Etsy, I often frequent the community section to learn as much as I can on how to promote my shop. I am discovering that my fellow artists on Etsy are so inspiring and helpful. I cannot believe how much support I have received in such a little amount of time.

I have always created as long as I can remember in some capacity or another. As a child, I used to sit down and draw all day long. As the years went by, I stopped drawing but never stopped creating. I got into Scrapbooking, Decorating, Altering and just about every craft you can think of. The beginning of this year I decided to start drawing again and to do the unthinkable...pick up a paint brush! Since then, I have been a sponge learning as much as I can about painting, portraits and mixed media in general. I feel like I am doing what I was meant to do. My art is mostly inspired by the things I experience with my son and daughter and my journey of self discovery. When I'm painting, I try not to think too much and just let my instincts take over. Sometimes I have so many ideas, its hard to get them all down on my sketch pad, but I am really enjoying this new journey in my life and can't wait to see where it leads me.

My advice for other Etsy store owners is learn as much as you can by going to the community section of Etsy, Join an Etsy group (I belong to VAST-Visual Art Street Team), ask lots and lots of questions, figure out who your target buyers are and definitely start an Art Blog.

Good Bloom

I chose Goodbloom's store because it's simplicity and neatness. Her prints are simple, yet have this funkyness to them that makes them unique. I would love it if they were 12 x 12 scrapbook paper. Here is some more info about Goodbloom straight from the seller herself. Make sure you check out her etsy shop and blog.

About my store: I sell retro flower paintings and ACEOs. I got interested in painting while doing some artwork for my girl's room, which was also flowers, and it has grown from that. I love to use bright happy colors most of the time, with a little drab color thrown in to make the colors pop. I will probably start adding some other things to my store besides flowers soon, though, as I'd like to experiment with other things too. But flowers will still be the meat and potatoes of what I sell.

What inspires your art? For my flowers, I try to doodle regularly to keep the ideas flowing. I get inspiration from lots of different places too, though, such as a photo on a blog or something. Things that have patterns, especially. For my colors, I love to look at decorating catalogs like Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel to get inspiration.

Advice for other etsy store owners: Well, since I've only been on Etsy for 2 weeks now, I think I'm the one that needs the advice!!! But if I were to talk to someone about to open a store, I would tell them to research like crazy. I am learning so many new things about operating a small business that I had no idea went on. And I've also been learning that you can't just open your shop and sit back and wait for the sales to start pouring in. You have to really put your store out there for others to see in lots of different places. That's what I'm learning so far!

Tomorrow is Mega Meet!!!!!

Woohooo! Only a few hours until Mega Meet. I can't wait! Hopefully I will get to take a lot of pictures, fill my head with a tons of ideas, and my hands full of new scrapbook paper and supplies. I also had two sales in the etsy shop today. The ladybug pair and bumble bee are gone. I guess I better start making some more bugs, because it seems like those are the hot sellers!
If I have time tomorrow I will post pictures of the mega meet. Make sure to check back this weekend for 2 special posts. The weekend posts will be blog features from 2 etsy shops that were the winners of the blog feature contest. Have a great day! I leave you with a picture of the teddy bear that is still available in The Pink Chihuahua Art Etsy Shop.

Sweet Treats

Countdown!

It's a countdown to the Great Lakes Mega Meet! 4 days to go!! I have done absolutely no crafting at all this week. So I have nothing to share. I'm hoping to get something accomplished today since I get off at 5. I'm planning on doing a small line of Sweet Treats polymer clay, with cupcakes, candy, and cookies. Right now it's just an idea I haven't actually tried to sculpt it, so we'll see what happens. I have it pictured in my mind, but that doesn't mean it's going to turn out that way.
I also chose the 2 winners for the Etsy Shop blog feature. So check your Etsy mail and see if you were chosen, and email me back with your info. The blog features will be this weekends blogs. For those of you who I didn't choose I will still post links to your shops in upcoming posts.
Have a great Tuesday! Oh and I almost forgot....Pink Chihuahua Art is almost at 1,000 page views, and only 9 hearts away from being 50 peoples favorite Etsy shop! Thanks everyone!
So I will leave you with a picture of the lady bug pair that are still available in the Etsy Shop
